Today we tell the story of young couple who, just a few months into their marriage, experienced a catastrophic auto crash that left him physically changed forever. But they are still trusting God, no matter what!

Lane and Emily

Nearly 4 years ago and 7 months into their marriage, Lane & Emily were in a life-changing auto accident while traveling to NC to visit Lane’s family.  While Emily was spared serious injury,  Lane suffered a severe traumatic brain injury (TBI).  Emily sat by her groom’s side praying and trusting God while his life was in the balance, including a craniotomy, coming off life support and eventually an 8 month stay at Mary free Bed Rehabilitation Hosp.  Two things were very clear.  First, God spared Lane’s life, his mind, memory, his wonderful sense of humor, his caring personality.   Second, the TBI left Lane with very little physical movement.

Flash forward to today.  Lane, Emily, and their precious baby Nyra (1) are taking on life, thankful for each new day and the grace God provides, despite their situation.  They are grateful for prayers of friends near and far that have sustained them. They are also grateful for Michigan’s Auto No-Fault insurance, which has provided 24 hour care for Lane.  Their East Lansing apartment is cozy and barrier free.  Emphasize..cozy!

Lane & Emily need to find a place of their own for many reasons.  First and foremost, for Lane’s productive therapy.  Given enough room, he could work hard on his goal to use his motorized wheelchair.  More space would allow room to operate and store all of Lane’s specialized equipment, as well as care-giving privacy.  Insurance will adapt one home for Lane’s needs, thus it needs to be of ‘lifetime quality,’ and  Lane & Emily need to own it first.  Emily is a nurse, devoting her work to Lane’s care.  While her income could make payments on a starter home typical for non-injured couples their age, they need something that they can live in indefinitely for both Lane’s continued therapy and as a family.  And having a small, or better yet NO mortgage, would be both an earthly blessing and simply…one less thing for them.

That’s where we come in!  There are nearly 3,000 of us, friends and family.. following and encouraged by Lane & Emily’s Praying Page and Blog.  WE CAN DO THIS…let’s blow them away with provision for a house!   What a blessing, for Lane & Emily to move into a home provided by all those who have held them up in prayer. Whether $5 or $500, let’s give from our hearts… heaping our love & encouragement on Lane & Emily!
