Easter is the single most significant celebration in the lives of all who believe in our Lord and Savior. Without the resurrection of Jesus Christ, a miraculous event that believers and unbelievers alike celebrate this month as Easter Sunday, we would have no reason for celebration. It would even make Christmas obsolete—who would care that a baby was born if he hadn’t been willing to give his life away in order to save us? Without his death, burial and resurrection—his defeat of the grave—we would not have the freedom of salvation today.
Romans 8:11 says, The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. Now, stop and really think about this. That same power of God is alive in you. The Message Bible says it this way:
It stands to reason, doesn’t it, that if the alive-and-present God who raised Jesus from the dead moves into your life, he’ll do the same thing in you that he did in Jesus, bringing you alive to himself? When God lives and breathes in you (and he does, as surely as he did in Jesus), you are delivered from that dead life. With his Spirit living in you, your body will be as alive as Christ’s!
Our world and our lives are so busy—we all have more than enough to do. But as we start the month of April with Jesus’ resurrection on our hearts and on our minds, what one thing is really most important of all the things we have to do?
Personally, as I examine the five areas of my life in which I want to be most intentional—faith, relationships, health, finances and work—I believe that this month I need to look deeper into the resurrection power of God and what it means to live intentionally for Him.
Here are five things you can do, starting now, that will help you live more intentionally for Him:
- Read your Bible every day.
- Talk to God in prayer.
- Spend time with other Christians in a church where the truth is preached.
- Share your story and tell others about Christ.
- Demonstrate your relationship with God by loving others.
When I build my life around my relationship with Him, then I find that I am better equipped to bring balance to the other areas of my life.
Intentional ONE THING Challenge
If you could do ONE THING and know that it would make a significant, lasting, possibly life-changing difference in your life, would you do it? Dr. Carlson shares the power of ONE THING and why you should get started doing your ONE THING today.
