I made a list of five things I want more of, and less of in my life. I want to encourage more and I want to criticize less. I’m big on identifying and doing the ONE THING that’s going to make the biggest difference in my life today.
And some days when I put my ONE THING wristband on, I intentionally say, “Today’s the day I’ve got to make sure I encourage more and criticize less.” This is a very tough thing for me. Maybe it is tough for other leaders too, because as leaders we’re always looking for how can we do things better. Leaders are thinking, What’s being missed and how can we take it to another level?
It’s easy for me to look at what isn’t right as opposed to what is right. It becomes a balancing act to learn to encourage more and criticize less. Encouragement is so important. At the marriage conferences, I always have the husbands and wives look at each other and share one thing they really love and respect about each other. It’s at that moment I see the conference start to turn in a positive direction as people reconnect, maybe for the first time that day. That’s encouragement.
Remember, whatever is most intentional in your life is going to win.
