Time for Your Marriage to Bloom

Power_prayer_252x252.jpg As you decide to make time for the “important” things at hand each day, it’s easy to let your marriage simply exist. But just as a plant will eventually wither and die without a little water and sunshine, marriages need time and attention to thrive.

Tending your Marriage Garden

Doing One Thing to nurture your marriage each day can be the difference between slowly dying on the vine or producing fruit that will last. These are a few simple things you might consider:

  1. Never leave the house without kissing your spouse.
  2. Look for something you can sincerely compliment your spouse on each day.
  3. Say “I love you” daily in a unique way for 30 days. Use a variety of art, languages, music and gestures. Creativity takes effort but speaks the message loudly.
As you take time to do one new and loving thing each day, share your intent with your spouse. And consider inviting your husband or wife to reciprocate. When you both do One Thing each day, the emotional investment in your marriage doubles! You stand to gain:

  • Appreciation for your spouse and from your spouse
  • Greater awareness of spouse’s qualities
  • Improved focus on your marriage
Doing what it takes to have a thriving marriage requires time and effort, but it will contribute to a thriving garden of love in your home.

  • I gave my wife a tight hug, a big kiss, and told her that I love her and that she makes my life complete.

  • We have a dry erase board on the dining room wall and we leave little 'LOVE' messages for each other on it. I leave mine at night before I go to bed, so he gets it in the morning and he leaves his before he goes to work, so I see it when I wake up.
