How to Understand God's Perspective on Money

20_dollar_bible_252x252.jpg It will take just two minutes of your time. Reading 1 Timothy 6 will give you God’s perspective on money, and could change how you perceive its importance in your life.

Most people don’t see themselves as pursuing money. But how you spend your money and use your credit could indicate that money is more vital to you materially, psychologically, even emotionally, than you think.

Consider 1 Timothy 6:9-10,

“People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.” (NIV)

Paul goes on to say, “Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.” (1 Timothy 6:17 NIV)

The Lord not only meets your material needs. He also helps you make wise spending choices that will benefit you now, and set you up for a more stable financial future.

  • You can't out-give God. We gave a couple of year-end gifts to missions work, and the next day I learned that we would be receiving a year-end bonus at work (only one in the 13 years I've been there). The amount? Exactly what we gave!

  • I have learned the more I strive for money, the less satisfied I become. Lesson learned? My wants are not my needs and if my heart needs and seeks God, I find my desires in Him and I'm satisfied!! He provides ALL for my family in miraculous ways!!

  • I work hard and God works hard right next to me. I'm a Police Officer who cares about all people good and bad. The money helps me feed and have a home for my family. But God always provides when times are good and bad.
