When it comes to money, God desires an obedient mindset that says, “Whatever I have, I want to give it back.” 

The Lord is pleased when you have a willing heart to turn your resources back around to reach people, and build something Jesus referred to as “treasures in heaven.”

Matthew 6:19-21 teaches us about such treasures. “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy… For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (NIV)

And, the Parable of the Rich Fool (Luke 12:13-21) also provides Jesus’ perfect perspective on how to be “rich toward God.” He is pleased when we use our material wealth, no matter how big or small that may be, to help others and share God’s love with them in the process.

Across the nation, there are many children, families and ministries in need this Christmas. Make a commitment today to give a set amount of money to His work providing for those in need.

• Give through your church: If you don’t feel you can afford a tithe of 10 percent of your income, just start by giving what you can.
• Give to a trusted ministry: Even a periodic donation to an organization impacting lives for Christ will make a huge difference.
