A Roadmap

In the Bible, God gives us an easy-to-read roadmap for life. Ephesians 5:10 says, “Figure out what will please Christ, and then do it!” (The Message)

This verse is the key to living an intentional life in Christ. And when put into practice each and every day, it is transformational. The problem is that we often get in the way of ourselves when it comes to living it out.

We want God to be at the core of our life. He gives us strength, he fully enables us. But, we mess up. We make mistakes.

We can’t blame sin or our spouse, our circumstances or anything else. We must take responsibility for our own thoughts, emotions and actions. When we do, we’ve begun the journey of intentional living.

Information + Insight + Action = Intentional Living

Intentionality occurs in our lives when we combine information, insight and action. Let's look more closely at these three ingredients of an intentional life.

Information refers the facts you need to know about the situation.
Insight is looking at the situation in a meaningful and thoughtful way. This insight often comes from Scripture as God gives wisdom and discernment.
Action involves doing something with the information and insight you’ve gathered. Without action, nothing happens.

I’ve identified five essential areas of life: faith, family, health, finances and work. When you apply Ephesians 5:10 and the formula for intentional living to each of these areas consistently, you will be living the intentional life in Christ.

Doing so will bring pleasure to Him and benefit to you. It will be transformational.

  • My focus right now is in decluttering my study which is in chaos. I believe that God is asking me to bring order into my life/home which will allow me to follow Him more clearly and I will have the peace of mind I am desperately looking for.

  • I'm really focusing on Listening to what God wants me to do. Not assuming I know. There really is something to be said about the phrase "Shut Up and Listen"

  • I focus on faith, family, follow my heart in doing what is expected to help others. I pray for strength, good health so I can fulfill my duty of what God wants me to do. I truly believe that HE listens to me.Therefore, I leave everything in his hands
