Amy's Story

Amy Intentional Fitness 120In May of 1999, my husband Tim worked for a federal bank. He ended up making some serious decisions—signing and authorizing a loan for himself—that would forever change our lives. Tim spent nine months in a federal prison camp and three months in a half-way house.

It devastated our family and brought Tim and me to a place of total surrender and dependence on God. This period of trial and testing became our desert experience and our life’s awakening.

Tim was released from prison camp in May of 2001. Oh, how I can’t even describe the feelings of bitterness and unforgiveness that I personally felt against my husband. God had a lot of healing and brokenness to restore in me, in Tim and mostlyin our marriage.

Day after day, we were intentional to stay committed to God and to one another. Through the years, God did an unbelievable work in me and in Tim.

In 2007, our car detailing and body shop business was forced to close due to the effects of the economy. Again, Tim and I felt broken and abandoned by God. But on the contrary, God was doing a new thing in us!

We certainly underwent financial struggles and still walk by faith in our finances. Tim tried hard to find employment, but was mostly unable to get a steady job because of his prior record.

So, God opened doors for me to clean houses, teach fitness classes and train clients to provide food for our family and pay a few bills. How God pruned us during that time as we waited on Him!

Then in 2008, I took the huge step of faith and enrolled in the AFAA Certified Personal Trainer program, studied and passed the test. Now, it was time to put it into action. I would have to pray for open doors, do the work that was in front of me, and trust Him to lead me and guide me to the next step.

Tim and I began Intentional Fitness Bootcamp. He was present at every session setting up equipment. I got him up most days before 5 am several times a week, month after month, to stand beside me and be my partner. God was uniting us as husband and wife in a new and fresh way!

Daily, I would send texts of truth and inspiration to my boot campers. So, not only were they receiving physical benefits at boot camp, but also the mental, emotional and spiritual benefits that come from God's Word and from His ways of intentional living.

After much prayer and with our dear friends, we opened a 24-hour-access fitness center called Intentional Fitness Center. It's an unbelievable story and testament that God is still in the overcoming business.

Daily, we are seeing people inspired and stirred to not waste their life. We are seeing people of all ages getting wholly fit. We are seeing God open the hearts of the unsaved and revive the hearts of Christians.

We are boldly, lovingly and confidently declaring the name of Jesus and graciously loving people right where they're at. We are seeing God's mighty anointing and working in the lives of many, many people through the power of living an intentional life!

And, we are believing that we will see even greater things in the future as every day we intentionally turn our hearts toward Jesus and obediently do what He says to do. One step at a time, one day at a time!
