Sometimes this type of life change involves identifying an underlying problem. This is where we all need to think through and identify the root problem and real issues facing us, not just the symptoms.

Take the Coca-Cola Company for example. It's one of the world’s largest businesses with some of the most talented leaders on the globe. But back in 1985, they made an historic mistake by changing the formula of their soft drink and introducing “new” Coke.

The company, which had been losing market share to Pepsi, believed that the taste of their product needed to be improved. Yet, new Coke was a disaster.

In the end, the company was forced to abandon new Coke after realizing that the problem wasn’t with the taste after all, but with the way their product was being marketed.

You don’t have to read very far in the Bible to see examples of people failing to identify their real problem.

1. In Genesis 3:12, Adam blamed both God and his wife for his sin “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.”
2. In the very next verse, Eve blamed Satan “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” ignoring the fact that God had given her free will to choose.
3. Cain’s sacrifice was given without the right motive and it was rejected by God. Rather than examine his own heart, Cain killed Abel in jealousy.

Instead of playing the blame game, ask God to reveal the truth to you. Identify the One Thing you can do today to address the real problem.
