Letting Go of the Past

My husband and I have both been married before, and brought a lot of hate with us into our marriage. I dealt with so much guilt from my divorce, and felt there was nothing I could do to get rid of the pain I was harboring from the abrupt end of my first marriage.

I began to listen to Dr. Randy Carlson about a year ago while waiting for my children’s bus each afternoon. At first, it was painful to listen to the show, but little by little I began to feel conviction that I wasn’t doing what I knew was right. By not following God’s plan for me I was seriously failing in my God-given role as my children’s mother.

Although I struggle daily with doubt, my husband and I are attempting to take the shattered remnants of our lives and build them up to ensure the future of our family and our eternity. He accepted Christ, and I rededicated myself to Christ. We are learning to hand over our lives to Him, and pray the Lord will help us do the right things in managing these first relationships’ endings and the subsequent daily issues that arise from our blended family.

Had it not been for my “stumbling” across the program, I don’t think I would be where I am today. I don’t believe it was an accident. I believe it was a vehicle God used to get my attention and make me look long at hard at my complacency and the manner in which I was living.
